You are standing on 300 million year old fossilized limestone.Look up— the museum’s skylights and solar roof panels contribute to museum conservation efforts to save energy. In Rice Hall, a nearby gallery, travel to Africa and stand toe-to-paw with the man-eating Lions of Tsavo.Did you know the Lions of Tsavo were given to the museum in 1923 in the form of rugs?Scientists skillfully mounted the skins into the lions you see today.

Rice Gallery

Through a series of halls lined with dramatic dioramas full of animals from all over the world lies Rice Gallery, an intimate event space perfect for smaller receptions and dinners.

Host your event among beautiful scenes of African mammals�including the famous lions of Tsavo�set against a backdrop of the Serengeti plains.

During your event, encourage guests to explore the surrounding diorama halls, or extend your rental into other areas of the museum for a unique experience.

Founders Room

Once used exclusively by Field Museum staff, the Founders� Room is now available for intimate dinners, board meetings, seminars, and more.

The room was originally the office of Stanley Field, who served as museum president from 1908 to 1964. Today this space features specimens and objects from the museum�s collection, a decorative fireplace, and ornate crystal chandeliers. South- and east-facing windows offer abundant natural light and views of the Museum Campus.

East Atrium & Pavilion

This open, flexible space can be transformed into a number of experiences for you and your guests: reception-style cocktails, elegant seated dinners, intimate seating for conversation, or a beautifully lit dance floor.

The East Atrium and Pavilion offer guests an easy, accessible entrance from the east side of the museum and features a dazzling glass ceiling suited to both sunny daytime events or evenings under the stars.

Guests can also enjoy complimentary access to our permanent exhibition Inside Ancient Egypt�a perennial visitor favorite�for the duration of your event.

Stanley Field Hall & Balcony

Gleaming white marble, vaulted ceilings, and gracious columns set the stage for a spectacular event.

Stanley Field Hall is a premier Chicago event space, with iconic features everywhere your guests look: African elephants prepared by famed taxidermist Carl Akeley, flying pterosaurs, fossil-filled marble floors, and our (literally) biggest attraction, M�ximo the Titanosaur.

This expansive hall can accommodate a wide range of events�wedding, galas, and more. Customize your event by making use of the second floor balcony or, weather permitting, outdoor terraces and other adjoining spaces. You can alsoencourage guests' curiosity with exclusive access to our ongoing or temporary exhibitions.

Our dedicated event staff will guide you through the planning process for a perfect event, from catering and furnishings to A/V and spectacular lighting to set the mood.
